11th Street Records
Las Vegas, Nevada
The 11th Street Recording Studio is a remodel of a 3,681 SF tenant space within an existing concrete and wood building.
Structural work consisted of interior stud walls and justification of new rooftop units on the aging roof. Joints in the slab were cut and double walls were installed to prevent sound vibrations from traveling into the recording room.
A desire for higher ceilings in the recording room meant that certain mechanical ducts needed to pass through the roof trusses in such a way that required truss diagonals to be cut. To enable this, Kordt Engineering designed a new support system for portions of the roof using light gauge studs, posts and the existing concrete walls.
