Miracle Mile, Column Removal
Las Vegas, Nevada
This project was launched to solve the problems the Miracle Mile Mall management was having with leasing a particular tenant space. The project made the space more desirable by removing a column located in the storefront area.
This column was difficult to remove as it held a complex arrangement of mall theming and ceiling work that had inconsistent as-built drawings. Kordt Engineering Group performed site visits, surveying above the ceiling to determine what might be possible.
KEG was able to justify the removal of the column by providing a new beam to pick up the load and re-distribute it to existing columns nearby.
The solution was deemed cost-effective and the mall proceeded to perform the construction.
